Toddlers Make A ‘Splash’ In Amman Valley Leisure Centre

The recently introduced Splash lessons for under 4’s are proving a hit with parents and toddlers alike. The additional lessons link directly into the Learn to Swim Programme creating a transition from Grwp Splash: parent and baby sessions and finally to the aquatics activities such as Water Polo and Rookie Lifeguards.

When asked if she had seen an improvement in her daughter Mia (aged 4), Mrs Jenkins said: “Mia loves the lessons, her confidence has improved tremendously”.  Mrs Jenkin’s only regret was that she had not started Mia at a younger age, but seeing the advantages of the lessons has led to Mia’s sister Ella already starting in Splash at 2 years old.

Our NEW Splash programme in Carmarthenshire is designed to improve water confidence of children in a fun, enjoyable and safe environment.

Our Splash lessons are suitable for children 0 years and above. There is a support teacher in the water within Splash 1 to 5 who will help encourage and guide your child safely through the water. For very young children we ask parents to join their child in the water to become fully engaged in their child’s development and to further develop their child’s water skills outside of these lessons.  Badges and awards are available to help track your child’s progress throughout the programme. Splash sessions are available in Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli, click on the location to find out when the next Splash sessions is on near you.

Brand New Lockers On Their Way!

New lockers are being installed across 3 sites in November with Ammanford Leisure Centre to shortly follow.

These 3 sites are: Carmarthen Leisure Centre, Llanelli Leisure Centre and Newcastle Emlyn Leisure Centre.

This project will involve the installation of brand new lockers to link in with the fitness suite refurbishments and will introduce electronic RFID locks which will work with the smart wrist bands customers will have access to. This is a safe, secure way for customers to keep their belongings without the worry of a key!

The remainder of the works will involve a complete repair of current lockers in Llandovery Swimming Pool with new coin return locks, keys and wrist straps which will be dual use to use with the new &1 coin which will be introduced in 2017.

This project is to improve our standards in this important area and to improve the customers experience in line with the rest of our facilities.

Sign The Pledge. Make Sport Everyone's Game.

Sport is still awash with homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. New research for the Rainbow Laces campaign shows that:

• 72 per cent of football fans have heard anti-LGBT remarks at games over the last five years
• One in five 18 to 24-year-old sports fans say they’d be embarrassed if their favourite player came out
• Young sports fans are twice as likely to say anti-LGBT language is harmless if it’s just meant as 'banter'
• From a young age, many lesbian, gay, bi and trans people get the message that they are not welcome in sport.

Most sport fans and players do welcome and accept LGBT teammates and fans. We can’t let a small but vocal minority spoil the game for everyone else.

To make sport everyone’s game we need to come together to show that we support LGBT fans and players – as fans, players, clubs, leagues, governing bodies and sponsors. Whether or not you love sport, you can still play your part in helping the next generation of LGBT people thrive in sport.

Help us today: commit to make sport everyone’s game. Sign the pledge and share your commitment on social media, tag five friends who love sport and ask them to make a commitment too.
We need to send a positive message to our friends, our families and those who play and cheer alongside us: we welcome LGBT people in sport and we want to make sport everyone’s game.

Keep sharing. Together we can make sport everyone’s game.
